First of all, I want to say, its really exciting to be here. It all started as a team of two from the side hustle bootcamp (Mobile Application Team). The bootcamp commenced after the internship. Its a chance to learn more, dig deep, throw some darts and put all we've learnt to use
This weeks project is to work on an App that calculates the distance between two points using google map api while using google and Facebook to sign in. In our first meeting, we discussed the functionalities of the app, name of the app and how to get the UI for the App. We came up with the name "Verst" which means distance or length in Russia (why Russia right? well that's for another day). Lucky for us a member of the product design team volunteered to help us with the UI and Logo for the App.
Now the major challenge is getting to work with google map Api because it required a billing address which is rejecting our debit cards. What started as a team of two eventually became a team of 1. After much research, i was able to get the billing address working. At this stage some parts of the frontend is ready and all that's left is the functionalities. Eventually the Sign in features were up and running and the google map integration became a success. At the point of submitting the project for, all that is left is cleaning out the unwanted codes and optimizing the performance of Verst.
More functionalities such as searching for places and routes will be added soon.
